The 2030 Delusion: Why Tifos and Tracksuits Aren’t Enough

First thing – there is absolutely no place for racism in our game. Before we even talk about tactics or the board, that needs to be buried. Whoever was responsible for that abuse at the derby deserves a lifetime ban and their season ticket shredded. We’re better than that, surely!

But on the pitch? We were anything but "better".

A Derby Disaster

Losing a derby is shit, but getting outworked by what was basically a Sunderland reserve team is just embarrassing. They turned up with kids on the bench and a "competition winner" in goal, yet they wanted it more. They were sharper, hungrier, and first to every ball for the majority of that game – AGAIN!

The drop-off after we scored was staggering. For a squad with this much "quality" to just not turn up for a game of this size is a total betrayal of the shirt. The flags and tifo looked brilliant—credit where it’s due—but aesthetics don’t win you second balls. Atmosphere is just a backdrop; it’s no substitute for actual heart.

The Stagnation of "Success"

I’ve been going since 1990. I’ve seen the "Entertainers", the Champions League nights, and those soul-destroying years of just existing. I know what disappointment feels like. But when you finally taste success and win a cup, the trajectory should be up. Instead, it feels like we’re sliding backwards.

Look at the Alexander Isak situation. It’s the perfect example of where we’re at. You have to be proactive. The club knew Isak wanted to move on, yet they failed to prepare for the eventuality. Waiting around and hoping for a U-turn isn't a plan; it's a massive failure in recruitment. We’re playing catch-up in a league that punishes you for hesitating.

Rhetoric vs. Reality

The boardroom keeps feeding us this line about being the "biggest club in the world by 2030". Honestly, at this point, it feels like a fairy tale. We’re five years into this takeover, so where’s the actual progress off the field?

  • Infrastructure: We’ve had zero concrete news on a stadium expansion or a proper, world-class training ground.

  • Commercial Strategy: The club is happy to pump out new merch every month, but the actual "big" partnerships feel like they’ve hit a wall.

  • The PSR Shield: We’re constantly told Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) are tying our hands. We know the rules are real, but they shouldn't be an evergreen excuse for a lack of creative business or failing to upgrade the actual bones of the club.

The Bottom Line

It feels like we’re being sold a "lifestyle brand" while the actual football project is stalling. You can’t build a global powerhouse on 52,000 seats and a training ground that doesn't match the elite.

The honeymoon period for this ownership & manager is over. The fans have held up our end of the bargain—we fill the stands, we travel in thousands, and we spend our hard-earned money. Now it’s time for the board to move past the PowerPoint presentations and start acting like the richest club in the world. No more excuses. Something needs to change.

"We still follow United - Howay the lads."
